Catherine Gillespie – Artistic Associate

Gillespie_400Catherine Gillespie is an actress, teaching artist, and occasional dialect coach. She is the Managing Director of The Viola Project (www.violaproject.org), an educational non-profit dedicated to empowering young women through the exploration Shakespeare’s plays. A proud Michigan girl, she graduated from Oakland University with a BA in Music Theatre. Mitten-based theatre credits have included work with Meadow Brook Theatre, Jewish Ensemble Theatre, and the Michigan Theatre Festival. In Chicago, Catherine has spent time with City Lit Theatre in Lovers, The Wind in the Willows and Frankenstein. She’s been dialect coach there for The Sign of the Four and The Copperhead. Other Chicago credits include And Neither Have I Wings To Fly (Citadel Theatre), A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet (Glass Onion Theatre), and The Pirates of Penzance (Savoyaires). This past spring, she had the pleasure of playing Kate in Promethean’s production of Shakespeare’s Henry V.
