It’s true! We love the brilliant artists who come play, build, light, costume, and generally make our productions awesome. And our hope is to, one day, be able to pay our actors, designers, stage managers, directors, and producers what they deserve. Even as we begin our tenth season, though, that’s just not in the cards.
We believe that making a commitment to increasing stipends for our artists as we continue to grow is an important step, however small at first. This year we are raising the stipends for both actors and designers – actors will now receive $60 per production (20% increase), designers $125 (25% increase).
The numbers are still nowhere near what we want to be paying – but we hope that the folks who work with us understand that this is one of many steps we plan to take in our efforts to adequately compensate the incredibly talented people who commit to making art with us.
